Chintemani

LONDON, UK

May Our Heart’s Eyes Be Open. Chintemani is a motif with deep roots and timeless meaning. Three eyes… the eye of the world, the eye of the heart, and the eye of the soul. But the most precious is the eye of the heart. Because when the eye of the heart is opened, all others are opened as well.  The world becomes a more meaningful, more beautiful place.

The wall panel we designed for our Chintemani project in London reinterprets the story of this ancient symbol. Eye, eye, eye… And the smallest one represents the eye of the heart. It transforms into a lighting unit, blinking and radiating its light. Just like the light a person with an open heart brings to their surroundings… May our heart’s eye always be open, and may the world become more beautiful.

The bar greets its guests with a sculptural surface, where the rippling metallic façade flows like liquid light. These soft undulations are not only a design gesture but also a reflection of movement, energy, and the vibrant rhythm of social life. Above, the circular luminaires glow like eyes gazing gently into the space, illuminating both the bottles that line the shelves and the faces gathered around. Each orb of light becomes a symbol of connection, a spark that turns an ordinary evening into something memorable. The warmth of natural wood framing, paired with the refined shimmer of metal and the softness of cream toned seating, creates a delicate balance: elegant yet inviting. This is not only a bar; it is a stage where material, light, and human presence harmonize, reminding us that beauty lives in both detail and atmosphere

The space unfolds around a rhythm of golden rings, gracefully aligned to form the railing of the staircase. More than a functional element, these circles echo the timeless Chintemani motif: three eyes, three perspectives, three layers of vision. They stand as symbols of continuity and flow, guiding one’s gaze upward while also grounding the interior in heritage and meaning. The deep blue surfaces embrace the setting with serenity and depth, a backdrop against which light and form reveal their dialogue. Soft cream seating and reflective glass tables balance this richness, inviting comfort and conversation. Between geometry and material, between symbol and function, the design becomes more than an interior, it transforms into a narrative of harmony, where every circle reflects both past and present, earth and spirit.

At the heart of the room stands the Pantheon Table Type II, Bureau’s own work of art. Its luminous blue surface, sculptural yet serene, becomes both centerpiece and conversation starter, a stage for ideas, emotions, and encounters. Around it, finely crafted chairs in warm tones invite dialogue and comfort, while above, a constellation of glowing orbs forms the chandelier, like pearls suspended in midair, radiating a gentle, timeless light. Deep velvet draperies frame the space, adding intimacy and grandeur, while mirrored walls extend reflections, multiplying both light and perspective. More than a dining room, this is a setting where design transforms into narrative, where Pantheon’s bold presence anchors the atmosphere, and every detail resonates with harmony.
